Alan McKnight, MBA, CFP®

Vice President

Alan graduated in 1984 from Southern Polytechnic State University with a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering Technology; he also earned a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Financial Services from Kennesaw State University in 1992. Alan is currently enrolled at the University of Florida and is working on his Doctor of Business Administration in Finance.  He is also a graduate of the College for Financial Planning and obtained the Certified Financial Planner® designation in 1997.

Mr. McKnight is a member the Financial Planning Association, the Georgia Society of CPAs and the CFA Institute. 

Mr. McKnight has been quoted frequently in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on many types of personal financial planning issues and was a featured speaker at their 1st annual Money & More Personal Investment Seminar in September 1998.  He has also been quoted frequently in professional journals such as Financial Advisor and the Journal for Financial Planning.  

Mr. McKnight has also been a community leader with America Online’s Personal Finance bulletin board and volunteered for Crown Financial Ministries helping families with their personal financial needs. Mr. McKnight is also an Adjunct Professor of Finance with Southern New Hampshire University where he teaches Principles of Finance, Corporate Finance, Financial Markets, Advanced Personal Financial Planning and the Finance Capstone. He was also a Senior Faculty member and Visiting Professor at the Keller Graduate School of Management (KGSM) in their MBA Program where he taught Personal Financial Planning, Securities Analysis, Derivatives, Management of Financial Institutions, Mergers and Acquisitions and Managerial Finance.  Alan’s students consistently rated him as one of the top instructors in the business school. He has served as the Subject Matter Expert for the CFP® Certification Examination and KGSM’s Personal Financial Planning and Managerial Finance curricula.

Alan, Barbara and their two daughters are active members of Johns Creek Baptist Church where he has served as an active Deacon, Deacon Treasurer, member of the Stewardship Committee and Bible study leader.  Alan is also a member of the Atlanta Athletic Club, and his other hobbies include golf, fishing and target shooting.
