Alan McKnight, MBA, CFP®

Principal, Advisor

Alan is a Principal of the firm and works with clients in the areas of Retirement Planning, Investment Planning, Insurance Planning, Tax Planning and Estate Planning. Alan graduated from Southern Polytechnic State University with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Technology; he also earned a Master of Business Administration in Financial Services from Kennesaw State University.  Alan is currently a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Florida and is completing his dissertation for his Doctor of Business Administration in Finance.  He is also a graduate of the College for Financial Planning and obtained the Certified Financial Planner™ designation in 1997.

Mr. McKnight is a member the Financial Planning Association, the Georgia Society of CPAs and the CFA Institute.

Mr. McKnight is an Adjunct Professor of Finance with Southern New Hampshire University where he teaches Principles of Finance, Corporate Finance, Financial Markets, Advanced Personal Financial Planning and the Finance Capstone.  He also been a Senior Faculty member and Visiting Professor at the Keller Graduate School of Management (KGSM) in their MBA Program where he taught Personal Financial Planning, Securities Analysis, Derivatives, Management of Financial Institutions, Mergers and Acquisitions and Managerial Finance.  He has additionally served as a subject matter expert for the CFP® Certification Examination and KGSM’s Personal Financial Planning and Managerial Finance curricula.  Mr. McKnight has volunteered at Crown Financial Ministries as a counselor, helping families with their personal financial needs.

Alan and his wife Barbara live in Duluth, GA and are members of Johns Creek Baptist Church where he has served as an active Deacon, Deacon Treasurer, member of the Stewardship Committee and Bible study leader.  Alan is also a member of the Atlanta Athletic Club, and his hobbies include golf, fishing and target shooting.
